The City Dance Academy

City Dance Academy (CDA) was established in 1992 and is situated on the border of Islington and Hackney next to Shoreditch Park. We offer a variety of fun and inspiring dance classes for girls and boys from the age of 2 1/2 years and upwards. Classes can be taken for pleasure or to work towards graded examinations. The academy follows the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus for all exam work. Specialised workshop classes are held throughout the year and students can work towards participating in competitions and performances, including our ‘Showtime’ production that is staged in a West End theatre every 3 years. Classes are taught by the principal Kika Macdonald, with the assistance of other qualified and professional dance teachers and performers. Students from CDA have gained places at The Britt School, Susie Earnshaw Theatre Secondary School, The Italia Conti full time Secondary School, Margaret Howard Theatre College, Stella Mann College, LIPA – Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and The Centre Performing Arts College. Past students include, Bonnie Wright – Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis and actress Ella Purnell.
